What's New?!

I did not realize it had been 2 weeks since I wrote.. It really only feels like a few days since I last posted. Anyways, HELLO! I have been so busy lately trying to get some cool things done and I'm sure you have all been seeing what I've been doing if you follow me on social media. I've been dancing A LOT lately. Oh... and I STARTED A YOUTUBE CHANNEL!!! I've always said I wanted to make a Youtube and just post videos about whatever. So I decided to make something like my blog, but as videos.. so I guess vlogs. So far I only have one video up and it is a fall makeup tutorial and I'd love if you all checked it out. I have another makeup tutorial recorded, but after several camera malfunctions, I'm not sure if I'll be posting this one. I definitely don't want to just be doing makeup and clothes videos. I want to open my world up just a little more to you all by posting some life vlogs and dance videos. I hope you all stick around with me on this journey and I can't wait to see what the future holds for me..

Make sure you follow me on social media so you can stay updated on my uploads and posts! Also if you check out videos, be sure to like and subscribe!!

#OOTD

I recently went shopping and I bought (*parents bought* Lets be real I'm poor.) some seriously amazing clothes. Really though, Nordstrom's buyers have stepped it up for this Fall season. They are right on top of this Fall's trends. This outfit of the day is a perfect fall-fit (fall+outfit.. Haha I'm so clever.) and is even better if you are looking for something trendy, but casual to wear. If you want to make it look a little more dressy, I suggest wearing a necklace and maybe even some stack bracelets. Gold jewelry would be a great accent against these neutral colors! Just don't over do it. I think the reason this outfit (aka fall-fit haha) is so flattering is because of the simplicity of it.

I love every piece of clothing in this, but in my eyes, the real star is the jeans. They are by Frame Denim in the style 'Le Skinny de Jeanne' Destroyed Jeans. I honestly can't say that I've ever had a better pair of jeans. They fit so nicely and look amazing on... I'm obsessed to say the least. Paired with these bad boys is a black tank top from Topshop and a pair of 'Graant' booties by Steve Madden!

I hope you all love this fall-fit as much as I do! By the way, everyone should start calling their fall trend outfits "fall-fits." Haha. Anyways, if you like my posts or my blog in general make sure to share it to all your friends!! Also, be sure to follow me on social media to stay updated on my blog and to find out when I'm posting!!

My Braids!!!

Hey everyone! If you follow me on any of my social media, you know that I have been wearing my hair in braids a lot this past week. I have been getting such good feed back about them that I felt the need to make a whole post dedicated to them. Not going to lie, I was INSPIRED to do them by Kylie Jenner, but I DID NOT DO THEM TO LOOK LIKE KYLIE JENNER... just had to clarify because I have been having a problem with people thinking I want to be her every time I do something new. Anyways, I love my hair in these braids. A perk of having them is that I don't have to wash my hair as often because no one can see how oily my hair actually is. Hopefully I inspire you all to try something new with your hair this week! It's always fun to experiment with new looks!

Product of the Week!!! (10.14.15)

Usually I can control myself while shopping and most of the time I try not to spend all of  my money. One store gets an exception... that store is Sephora... Whenever I am buying makeup something comes over me and I have to buy anything I find remotely interesting. That is how I discovered this week's product of the week.

Sephora makes some super awesome products and I recently came across one of my new favorite things. A few weeks ago, I bought the Sephora Green Tea Fiber Mask. It is supposed to help keep your face looking matte and free of blemishes.  It seriously works and feels so nice. I 100% recommend this product. My favorite thing about it is the fact that it isn't one of those masks you have to wash off. There's literally no clean up besides throwing away the mask. It is so easy and so convenient for times when you feel like you're starting to break out or have been getting pretty oily. I think I'm going to have to try out some more of these Sephora masks because I'm already hooked!

I'm such a scrub in this pic lol..

Dinner Adventure with the BFF

A few nights ago, my best friend Andrade and I decided to head out to Downtown Gilbert for a nice dinner. Believe me, we both deserved our 20 dollar meals.. We drive by Zinburger so often because our dance crew practices down the street from it (and a Dutch Bros. which I am more addicted to than I'd like to admit..) and we finally decided we had to try it after hearing so many good things.

When we walked in I knew I was going to love it. It has a modernized barn type of decor and it is absolutely adorable. At first, our service was pretty bad because no one helped us for about 20 minutes or at least until I finally flagged down a waitress. Honestly, the whole wait wasn't all that bad because my girl, Andrade, was making me laugh the entire time. I ended up ordering a Nutella-Hazelnut milkshake and a juicy burger called the Blanco. It was all mouth watering-ly delicious. Probably because everything on the burger was made from scratch in their kitchen. Pretty awesome if you ask me. I'd give the whole experience a 8.5/10.

For my outfit, I wore an adorable Free People sweater-dress. I've had it for about a year, but I never wore it till that night.. Likely because I found it far in the back of my closet where I don't usually look. The boots are from Nordstrom, I know that, but I can't remember the brand and the name wore off the shoes since I've worn them so many times.. It's definitely not sweater and boots weather in AZ right now, but I got excited about fall and ended up wearing a fall outfit anyways..

I can't wait till it finally starts to cool down even more. I love Fall/Winter trends. They're definitely my favorite seasons. Well, until next time lovelies...

¡Hola!

Guess what?! I'm finally back from my hiatus. Over the past month I've had quite the life, ha-ha.. Busy, is a good way to describe it. There has been a lot of negative and positive things going on in my life that I decided I needed to break away for a bit.

I have realized sometimes you have to be a little selfish to be happy. Do what you have to do to have a smile on your face at the end of the day. This break from blogging gave me time to focus on myself and a lot of other things going on in my life. With that being said, I cannot wait to start doing this regularly again it, I've missed it a lot.
I have wanted to share with you all how I stay motivated and clear minded for awhile now, but I wasn't sure when a good time would be. Right now seems like the perfect time to. I do this weird ritual when I need a little pick me up and it really works for me. I start off by listening to a motivational speech (check out "Unbroken," on youtube). Then, I listen to music. Listen to the speech again. And repeat until I think I'm ready. I especially do this before I perform or compete, so instead of listening to random music, I listen to what I'm performing to. I've also responded really well to meditation. One thing I respond to most obviously is getting away. When I'm feeling a little down, I like to escape from everything. I like to get away from all social media.. mostly twitter. These websites can be pretty toxic, give yourself a break from it all every once in awhile. The main idea in pretty much everything I do to stay clear minded, is to stay focused. Focus on yourself and what makes you happy.. you truly will start to see a difference in yourself.
This past weekend I headed down to Puerto Peñasco, Mexico. Here are some beautiful and relaxing pictures of the beach and ocean..

Long Time No See

Hello readers!

It seems like forever since I’ve had a chance to write. I went into my senior year thinking this would be my laziest and easiest year. Oh how I laugh at that now. My classes aren’t hard, but I feel like I am constantly doing something. Trying to balance my schedule has been the hardest thing by far. I love my life right now, but I truly cannot wait till my schedule is cleared up a bit, which I am expecting to happen after this weekend. Incase you didn't know, I am Senior Class President and I am in charge of homecoming. If you think it is easy, you are wrong. Thankfully, this coming Saturday is the big day. Not only have I been busy doing stuff for homecoming, but I have been taking dance classes, going to practices, doing an online class, and going to school. Along with all of that I have to try to find time to eat and sleep. I am also working on another project that I am quite eager to share with you all in the future. I love my blog and it makes me so upset that I barely have time for it, but I am really trying! I would greatly appreciate if you all stick with me and continue reading my posts about my crazy life. The amount of positive feedback I have gotten from this has been incredible. I love you all so much and all of your comments to me push me to continue doing this.

Expect more posts in the coming weeks…

Quick Overalls Appreciation Post

This is just a quick post about how much I love these Mother Denim overalls!!! They are so comfy and fun to wear. A nice perk is that they make my butt look nice, haha! For under, I wore a white cropped t-shirt. For shoes I wore a pair of high-top vans, they'd definitely look great with a pair of converse as well! This outfit is a more tomboyish one, but it's great for just hanging around and looking super cute at the same time.

Until next time!!!

Denver Wedding Outfit

Hello, hello, hello!!! I've missed you all so much... I know I don't know a lot of you or maybe I do, but I always feel like I'm talking to my friends when I'm writing these posts <3 As I said in my previous post, I was in Denver this past weekend. It was great catching up with family for such a special event, weddings truly are one of my favorite things to go to. I love everything about them. One of the best parts about weddings (in my opinion), is getting all done up and ready. I've been so excited to share this look with you all..

For my makeup I just want to focus on the lipstick.. I am completely in love with this color, "Flynn," by Tom Ford. It is a soft pinky color that feels so nice and silky on my lips... I am literally obsessed..

I found this Topshop dress (which is actually a top and skirt) at Nordstrom about a month or two ago and I've been saving it for the wedding. I ended up accidentally matching the wedding colors (navy and yellow), but I gotta admit, it still looked great. The dress itself made me feel so confident and fierce... I love how clothes can do that...

These shoes were surprisingly comfortable!! I haven't been wearing normal shoes (sandals, heels, etc.) because I've been dancing so much, so it was pretty strange wearing heels again. These Sam Edelman heels were amazing! The silver definitely matched up with the dress pretty perfectly. I would definitely consider a blush nude heel with this dress if I wear it again.

Thank you for reading!! Love you all and I hope you have a fabulous week!!

HAIR UPDATE

I know you are all thinking.. "What else could she have possibly done to her hair?" Well, I feel like I need to share with you all an updated version of my silver hair! When I first did the silver I went with the Wella toner and it really did look good.... BUT I FOUND SOMETHING BETTER AND SAFER. I recently headed over to my normal hair salon (Luxe Salon & Spa.. They are great. Go there.). All I went in for was a trim and tone. While there, my hairstylist, Danielle, and I started experimenting with ideas on what to use to make the silver more vibrant. With the help of some other stylists, we decided on using Pravana CromaSilk Vivids color in Silver! This stuff is seriously fabulous. All you do is mix it with some conditioner and apply. Like seriously, no developer... does it get any better than that? Especially considering the amount of bleaching my hair has undergone. This was like finding gold. I absolutely love my color now. It might be a little too blue, but I'm really starting to like it.

Another amazing product I have started using is Olaplex! My hairstylist uses it in my bleaching sessions and I just purchased the take-home treatment. I definitely recommend this product to anyone who has been coloring or damaging their hair. I apply it from root to tip on unwashed towel-dried hair. The instructions say to leave it on for at least 10 minutes, but I sleep with it on and wash it out with shampoo and conditioner the next morning. You will really be amazed at how healthy and soft your hair will feel!

Okay that's all for now... I will be in Colorado next week, so expect some amazing pictures on my next post!
Here's a silver selfie for ya..

Hip Hop Internationals 2015

Wowza! It has been quite the week for me! Sorry about this being a day late, but I have good reasoning.

For the past week I've experienced so many unforgettable things. First, I should probably tell you all that I am on a dance crew here in Arizona! We are called Elektro Academy. Some of you may know about us, some of you may not. For the past few months we have been putting in many hours to be ready for what we see as the Olympics of what we do. The first half of the week out in San Diego we were competing against crews all across America to represent our country at Worlds. After making it through preliminaries and semi-finals, we made it to finals. Much to out amazement, we got 3rd place in the country. This meant we got to go to worlds. Going up on stage to get our medals is a moment I will never forget.. I also don't think I've ever cried so hard in my life. There are people that have been going to HHI for 5+ years and have never placed. This was a huge deal for us. I'm actually sitting here with the biggest smile on my face just writing about it.

Sadly, at Worlds we didn't get past prelims. This only had me bummed for about an hour because eventually I realized that this is my first time at HHI and I got to Worlds... Worlds is an experience that stays with you for forever. The amount of people from all over the world that I got to meet made me feel extremely humbled and blessed. The language barrier between many of us was never an issue. We all spoke one language we all could understand and that is dance..

How I got to silver.....

If any of you follow me on Instagram and/or Twitter, you already know my locks of blonde are officially silver! I'm sure I will be getting LOTS of questions about how I got to this color and how my hair is not thrashed and falling out. Pre-apology for the pictures... I have had zero time to take some nice ones so these are all I have.

First of all, this has been a very long and slow process. About two years ago I started getting really fascinated by pastel hair colors. I started thinking about what I would look like if I did it and how I could get to it. Eventually I started the blonde process of just some highlights and making them heavier each time I went in to get my hair done. I was set back for awhile because I decided to do ombré for a few months. About a few months ago I got it to the blonde I wanted it to be and just let it be. Then about three days ago, me being the impulsive person I am, I decided to go silver. I thought hey why not, might as well try something new. So with my mom having a salon license we were able to use some nice bleach. I 100% recommend going to a professional for the bleaching process. We used Goldwell's Silk Lift with the Goldwell Silk Lift 30 Volume Developer. We ended up doing this process twice... in one day... yes I know that's bad. From there, we did our first round of toning with Goldwell's TopChic color in 11SV. Unfortunately, this did not get my hair to the color I wanted it to be. So the next day we purchased a Wella toner in the color T18, formally known as White Lady. To say the least, I am absolutely obsessed with the way my hair turned out.

Considering all of the coloring I do to my hair,  you'd think I wouldn't have any hair at all anymore. Honestly, I am quite surprised it isn't completely thrashed  right now, but I guess me being a freak about the health of my hair has truly paid of! Some things that have helped my hair stay healthy is by putting Moroccan oil on it and doing in-shower hair masks. Another thing I do is STAY AWAY FROM HEAT. I only straighten or curl my hair when it's an absolute must. You should also only be washing your hair every 2-3 days. You have to give your hair time to build up on it's natural oils to stay healthy. If my hair is really sweaty and gross on one of the days I don't wash it, I just run it under some water and on occasion I run some conditioner through it.

My biggest advice is give your hair time to get it to your desired color and think a lot about whether you truly want to commit to this unique color or not. You should also make sure you do your research before jumping into this process. Know everything there is to know about the process and the up-keep. This is all I have for this Friday's update!

Check back in next week!!

Fashion Inspo... AKA Workout Inspo.

Hello friends! Sorry it has been awhile, I've been very
busy lately, but I finally had time to make a post!

We live in a society where girls look at women like Jen Selter and Kayla Itsines and instantly think I need to diet, I need to take weight loss pills, etc. etc. etc. That is exactly what you shouldn't do -okay yes if you are eating a cheeseburger everyday, maybe you should change your diet. With that being said, getting fit only has to do with giving your body what it needs, eating as healthy as you can (which includes actually eating), and working out! People everywhere struggle with going to the gym or committing to a pilates class ( or whatever it is people do). My advice is GIVE YOURSELF REWARDS. About 90% of the time I am on the treadmill I am thinking about all the food I ate that day and that I am burning most of those calories away. The other 10% of the time, I'm thinking about how cute all my new clothes will be on my new hot bod. The best way to even get yourself to start working out is by buying new workout clothes. By spending money on new workout clothes, you should feel obligated to put them to use. Workout clothes are very trendy right now, so get out there, buy some running shoes, some nice leggings, and get to the gym!

Until next time...

xx.

GOOD MORNING

WAKE UP! It’s a beautiful day! Today I want each and every one of you to go out and do something nice for someone. Even if you aren’t feeling so bright, doing something nice for someone else will make you feel just as good or even better than the person receiving your niceness. Life can be tough sometimes so all we can do sometimes is do something to lighten the mood. Do your share in your community, feel good, and be happy. :)

The outfit: Happy Thoughts Cropped T-Shirt from Topshop with a simple velvet skater skirt from Nordstrom. Stole the hat from a friend, but I believe it's from Brandy Melville!

AZ ---> MI

I am currently writing from (I have no idea how many miles) miles above the ground trying to calm myself down from my internal panic attack I just hid from the people around me. As we took off I couldn't help, but think 'oh my goodness these are my last moments' or 'I forgot to tell my cat that I love him and I'm about to die so he'll never know.' But, even through all these thoughts, I was externally keeping it together for the sake of the stranger child sitting next to me. Seriously this kid is being beyond brave and overly happy to be sitting next to random strangers on a red-eye flight, and I am not going to be the one to make her upset. You'd think me, the child of a pilot, would be completely okay with flying. No, I am the black sheep of the family, which I'm sure has something to do with the amount of CNN I watch and how many plane crashes there seems to have been so recently.

Ahh finally the flight attendant is coming by with drinks and snacks. Time to stop writing and possibly get some sleep after devouring my biscoff cookie. I will be in Michigan for the next eight days so I will try to post again while I'm here, if not, love you all and thank you for reading!

My Key to Fashion

Have you ever had the perfect outfit on and still felt unsure about wearing it? Did you feel like you were missing something? It’s likely because you were missing the most important accessory. And guess what? It’s free.

The key to fashion is confidence.

What would be attractive about seeing someone frightened in their own clothing? If you “werk,” your outfit, your outfit will work for you. Simple as that. There has been many times I've been told, "Em, you don't exactly match, but for some reason it works for you," which is really because I'm walking around with confidence and acting like I have the best outfit I've ever worn on. We’ve all seen some questionable clothing options on big time stars too. For instance, Miley Cyrus has some of the strangest outfits I've ever seen. She's pretty much wearing a leotard 90% of the time she's in public or performing. Yes, people say things about how weird her outfit is, but in my opinion, she looks amazing because she really doesn't care what any of us think. She puts a big smile on her face and owns the stage. I think we all need a little Miley in us. Don't be afraid to go against the “in crowd,” there’s nothing special about dressing like everyone else.

In my own experiences, I’ve been told by many people (not trying to be cocky… okay maybe just a little) that I have great style. Little do they realize that they can too! All it takes is that extra boost. Tell yourself you look amazing and suddenly you really do start to look amazing. Why should anyone else think you look cute if you don't even think you look cute. Wear what you want to wear and don’t let anyone try to tell you otherwise.

I really hope that this helped you in someway and I hope to help you all more in the future! Always remember…

Beauty is confidence.
